And Akito is an idiot who got into a fight with Akira (over who would top) and decided that he'd rather do patrol duty than have to work a case with the guy. Being a cop fucking sucked sometimes, but it was better than being stuck in a cage. Akito hated that thing, hated how it just hung there looming and waiting and -

Anyway.

He's basically ditching work, and if Kaito wasn't who he was, than Akito would care about the implications and punishments of that. Except Kaito is Kaito and Akito doesn't have to give a fuck, he just has to fight and maim and attack when told to. That's all! Yay ra.

He finds a blond kid outside and is sort of intrigued with the way he thinks he's being slick, but sort of isn't.

"Why don't you just take it apart and mess with it?" Akito asks out of nowhere. He'd been watching for five minutes and he'd gotten frustrated just watching Kanon, fuck.

"That's exactly what I'm doing," Kanon says, without looking up from the box or his task, pulling a pair of wire cutters out and turning the box on its side, clipping at something deep inside. "It is a delicate process, you know."

His voice is more than a little bored.

"Please tell me those were just up your shirt or something?" Akito raises a brow at the tools that seem to go come from nowhere.

"Are you a magical mechanic?"

He stops to think and then nods, "messing with something like that would be a bit more delicate than other things, yeah."

Makes sense.

"Threw it against a wall," Kanon says, his tone never changing. "Have to fix it before anyone finds out."

Because, oh, the trouble he would be in then.

"Not magical, he says, looking up now, and raising an eyebrow. "Just know a few tricks."

"Oh," Akito blinks. "Yeah there's lots of throwing of stuff where I live, want help? You look like you have it covered though ..."

Hey, don't blame him for trying to talk to the cute guy who does not seem to enjoy vocalization!

Akito sits across from him, STARING in that sort of way that demands at least a glance.

Kanon ignores the offer, because this is far too fine-tuned of an effort: but when the boy sits down, he looks up to warn him - "Don't sit down on any of the pieces -- !"

...and then he notices the regalia, and his eyes open wide, showing the first real spark of emotion for today. The tuner box drops, and parts sort of rattle around inside of it. "You -- you!"

He just points, a lack of words now.

Akito gets to show how very good he is at blinking. And then he goes.

"Yeah. Fang King. Hi there."

He takes this title so seriously.

"Well," he says, truthfully, "You're quite a lot smaller than I imagined."

"All that matters is the size of my Fang, and that's pretty fucking big."

He wouldn't be a King otherwise.

Kanon sits back, settling his palms behind him and leaning on them. "Well, then," he says. "Go ahead and show me."

Akito gives him a smirk that screams, 'I'm sorry, was that challenge supposed to be intimidating?'

He stands, dusting his pants off a bit, acting cool and calm ... Before whirling around and unleashing a massive fang as the sky. A couple buildings may have been hurt in the process of this.

But that was all right.


Er, really.

"It wasn't meant to be intimidating at all," Kanon says, with a smile. "Merely curiosity."

He watches the fang with his head tilted slightly, and his smile develops into a rather odd sort of grin. "Not many people see that without ending up in the hospital, do they?"

"Nope," Akito says, an odd sort of smile on his face too.

They are matching?

"You're not the only one with fancy trick sneakers around here, ya know," Kanon says. He bites his lip for a moment, staring at the regalia, the respectful tuner side of him fighting against the very interested A-T side of him. "Just in case yer head was gettin' a little big and all."

He's starting to fall into the slangy grammer of his team, without even noticing.

"Oh, never," Akito says, tilting his head at Kanon, interested. There's another side to this kid and while that had always been obvious, now it was becoming so apparent Akito couldn't help but want to poke him a bit.

"You should show me some of your tricks." He can't stop the words from being a purr, the tone he uses on Akira when he wants something they both shouldn't have, because Kaito is almost always watching them.

They usually do it anyway, and Akito's skills of persuasion are spoken for.

Kanon wrinkles his nose at him. "Don't make it sound so skeevy," he says. "Don't tell me yer one o'those that goes around crackin' jokes about how perverted everything sounds."

How disappointing.

Akito giggles.

"No, I simply want to see what other skills you're hiding."

Innocent, plain tone.

Kanon gets to his feet, not even bothering to dust his jeans off. They're far too dirt-ridden and grass-stained at the knees, and nothin's gonna save that now.

"Pick a buildin' nobody gives a shit about," he says. "Then you'll see."

Akito makes a show of picking one and then points to a building that is about to be torn down.

"Show me what you've got."
